This Spirit XBR55 is a well designed bike for this price point with a lot of features. The back rest adjusts in angle hydraulically by levers located in the seat handlebars. The same applies to the seat adjustment allowing for infinite settings to suit each individual leg length. Pedal width is narrow to accomodate proper hip and knee alignment.
Tension is calculated in watts starting at 1000 up to 20 more levels. This is an ideal bike for any one using it for rehab use or is at a low fitness level. The 24 lb flywheel makes for a very smooth and consistent pedaling action.
Heart rate is picked up either by cardio touch sensors in the handlebars or by the Polar Chest Strap included. Programs include 6 preset programs; 2 custom programs and 2 heart rate controlled programs. The auto-pilot program allows you to turn any program into a heart rate controlled program.
A 51" x 28" footprint makes it relatively compact for a recumbent bike and the 350 lb user capacity insures a strong, solid frame. Better get going though - the fan only works if you pedal!!
